This interdisciplinary study explores the complex dynamics of domestic violence through the lens of psychological knowledge and Bulgarian national legislation. It breaks down the “cycle of violence” into three distinct stages—latent, explicit, and pre-escalation—offering specific legal and social recommendations for intervention at each phase. Grounded in Article 8 of the ECHR, the article emphasizes the state’s positive obligation to protect the physical and mental integrity of family members, advocating for an integrated approach that combines education, mediation, and electronic monitoring.
