This poignant study examines the ongoing mechanisms of historical revisionism and genocide denial in post-war Bosnia and Herzegovina, focusing on Srebrenica, Višegrad, and Prijedor. The author highlights the “quieting” of victims through the deliberate lack of memorialization at former sites of detention and mass execution, some of which have controversially resumed commercial activity. By analyzing manifestations of denial—from the desecration of graves to the glorification of war criminals—the article argues that in situ memorialization is a vital tool for education and future reconciliation, ensuring the horrors of the past are never erased.
